The symposium reviewed the importance of DNA as the primary genetic material in living organisms and its role in growth, development, and vital functions. It also addressed the most prominent methods for extracting DNA, including:
• Chemical methods using solutions and reagents to separate DNA.
• Physical methods relying on centrifugation and sedimentation.
• Modern techniques such as nanomagnets and automated systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
The two lecturers also discussed the challenges of DNA extraction and ways to develop this technology to serve medical and research fields, such as diagnosing genetic diseases, genetic engineering, and gene therapy.
